Many musicians and backing vocalists from Bat Out of Hell performed on Bad for Good, including Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Richard Corben illustrated the cover, as he had done for Bat Out of Hell .
Following those sessions, Bittan regularly and nearly exclusively collaborated with Steinman, appearing on three more Meat Loaf albums (most notably Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell), Steinman's solo album Bad for Good, an Air Supply single, a Barbra Streisand single, an album by Pandora's Box, Total Eclipse of the Heart, and others.

Mais Steinman sait aussi se raconter en balades, épaulé par le piano magique de Roy Bittan (« Lost Boys and Golden Girls », « Left in the Dark ») sans perdre son feeling aiguisé comme un cran d’arrêt.
