Salka Viertel (June 15, 1889 – October 20, 1978) was an Austrian actress and Hollywood screenwriter. While under contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1933 to 1937, Viertel co-wrote the scripts for many movies, particularly those starring her close friend Greta Garbo, including Queen Christina (1933) and Anna Karenina (1935).
Salka Viertel (née Salomea Sara Steuermann le 15 juin 1889 à Sambor en Autriche-Hongrie et morte le 20 octobre 1978 (à 89 ans) à Klosters, en Suisse) est une actrice et scénariste austro-américaine. Elle est la mère de l'écrivain américain Peter Viertel.

Salka Viertel was an influential actress, writer, and organizer of Jewish European immigrants in Hollywood. In 1908 Salka joined the Viennese company Neue Wiener Bühne as a principal actress. In 1916, she met Viennese writer and director Berthold Viertel, who left his wife to marry her in 1918.
