En 2019, après son premier long-métrage La Femme de mon frère, Monia Chokri ressent l'envie d’écrire un film d’amour. “Je trouve qu’il y en a encore trop peu au Québec. Il y a des histoires de famille, des récits initiatiques sur le passage à l'âge adulte… mais pas tellement de films sur l’amour.”
