Marty had the melancholy gift to say the least. The album was produced by RCA staff producer Rick Jerrard, who, to my ears anyway, got the perfect blend of fire and floral.

Balin, who had previously been a member of the iconic band Jefferson Airplane, drew upon his own experiences of lost love and the desire to reclaim it.

Grace Slick and Marty Balin were the primary vocalists for Jefferson Airplane, but Paul Kantner and Jorma Kaukonen took the lead on a few songs.
