OTTAWA – Earlier today Rachel Blaney was official sworn as Member of Parliament for North Island-Powell River. The small ceremony was attended by Blaney’s husband and two sons as she took the oath of office and signed the Test Roll for a third term following her re-election in September.
Blaney Motion Calls for a Sustainable and Equitable Future. North Island-Powell River MP Rachel Blaney wants to make sure that as the federal government continues to roll out funding and resources for COVID-19 relief and economic recovery, Canada’s rural, remote and resource-based communities get their fair share, and that it targets sustainable economic development in those regions.
Blaney takes on new responsibilities working more closely with Indigenous communities. North Island-Powell River MP Rachel Blaney is now the NDP’s Deputy Critic for Crown-Indigenous Relations and Indigenous Services. As Deputy Critic, Blaney will support NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, who is the party’s Critic for Crown-Indigenous Relations.
