In response to an ever-changing landscape for medical education, Imperial College School of Medicine is undertaking a major curriculum review covering all aspects of our undergraduate medical programme.
24 juin 2024 · In July 2019 the College announced a timely opportunity to sell the St Mary’s Medical School Building, which would be an important step in fulfilling the vision for the Faculty of Medicine. Work is currently underway to liaise with colleagues across our Faculty of Medicine community to plan for this process.
In 1988, the Imperial College School of Medicine was formed as part of the college's Faculty of Medicine by merging with St Mary's Hospital Medical School. The Faculty is comprised of eight world-class departments spread over seven West London campuses: Brain Sciences; Immunology and Inflammation; Infectious Disease; Institute of Clinical Sciences; Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction; National Heart and Lung Institute; School of Public Health; Surgery and Cancer.
These preceding medical schools were home to numerous medical researchers, including Sir Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin whilst working at St Mary's. St Mary's became part of Imperial in 1988, with the rest merging to form Imperial College School of Medicine in 1995.
