Repris dans la bande-originale du film "Platoon" en 1987, cette musique, d'une grande intensité, en a ému plus d'un. Ce que l'on sait moins, c'est que Barber en a offert une version sacrée en 1967 lorsqu'il y applique les paroles de l'Agnus Dei pour huit voix.
