Bancroft's is an HMC co-educational school for 1000 pupils aged 7-18. Founded by the Drapers' Company in 1737, Bancroft's provides academic excellence combined with a wide range of extracurricular opportunities and strong pastoral support.

Our History & Archives VISIT OUR ARCHIVES In 1737, Francis Bancroft, a wealthy city businessman, left the bulk of his fortune to the Drapers’ Company “to establish and maintain almshouses for twenty former Freemen of the Company ... and a school for one hundred poor boys aged between seven and fifteen”.
Bancroft’s school is an HMC co-educational school for approximately 1,100 pupils aged 7–18. Founded by the Drapers’ Company in 1737, as a result of a bequest from Francis Bancroft, the school still maintains its historic links with the City, combining the best of traditional values with innovative practices.
