Electro-Hop has roots that go back to the 1980s when vocoders, mouth boxes, and 808 machines were revolutionizing the early sound of hip-hop. The music worked well for breaking and for parties, but was surpassed by g-funk and gangsta rap as the primary sound of hip-hop around 1990.
