En mai 1998, Francys et Sergei Arsentiev arrivent au camp de base du mont Everest. Le 17 mai, ils montent au camp de base avancé de la face Nord, et arrivent à 7 700 mètres d'altitude le lendemain alors que 21 autres grimpeurs arrivent au sommet de la face Nord.

6 févr. 2024 · Francys Arsentiev and her husband, Sergei Arsentiev, embarked on their Everest summit attempt with the goal of reaching the top without supplemental oxygen, a tremendously arduous feat. The pair successfully reached the summit, but encountered difficulties on their descent.
On May 7, 1990, Serguei became the first Russian to climb Everest without bottled oxygen. The achievement came on the Everest Peace Climb, a joint U.S.-Chinese-Russian expedition conceived and led by American Jim Whittaker.
