New report brings experts together for stronger, safer, more resilient communities. People in B.C. are exposed to a wide variety of potentially devastating natural hazards, including landslides, tsunamis, and earthquakes.
Natural hazard threats occur in areas where buildings, people, and related capital assets are exposed to the physical effects of earth system processes that have a potential to cause damage, injuries, losses, and related socioeconomic disruption.
This report is based on input and evidence from whole-of-society stakeholders across Canada, and provides a foundation for understanding disaster risk from the three costliest hazards facing Canadians: earthquakes, wildland fire, and floods. Read the National Risk Profile report.
