Yui Hirasawa (平沢(ひらさわ) 唯(ゆい), Yui Hirasawa) is one of the 5 main characters in K-ON!. She's also the main protagonist. She is the air-headed lead guitarist and vocalist of the band Ho-kago Tea Time.

Yui and Nodoka are very close friends. They have known each other since kindergarten and have been friends since then. They shared the same classes up through high school, with Nodoka more or less assuming the role of Yui's guardian at school to keep her on track and make sure she was keeping up with her classes.
