Dans la mythologie grecque, Prométhée (en grec ancien Προμηθεύς / Promētheús, « le Prévoyant ») est un Titan 1 . Figure héritée du « transmetteur du feu », Prométhée est surtout connu pour avoir dérobé le feu sacré de l' Olympe pour en faire don aux humains.
Dans l'un des moments les plus célèbres de la mythologie grecque, Prométhée se mêle des créations de Zeus en volant le feu sacré des dieux et en le donnant aux humains. Ce vol leur a donné le pouvoir de cuisiner, de se chauffer et de se protéger des bêtes sauvages.
