Carl Weathers est surtout connu pour avoir incarné le personnage d'Apollo Creed, le premier adversaire puis l'ami de Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) dans la saga Rocky (du premier volet Rocky en 1976, jusqu'à Rocky IV en 1985, au début duquel son personnage meurt lors d'un combat).

His roles included boxer Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films (1976–1985), Colonel Al Dillon in Predator (1987), Chubbs Peterson in Happy Gilmore (1996), and Combat Carl in the Toy Story franchise .

Carl Weathers was born on January 14, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana. A famous and successful football star at San Diego State, he played with the Oakland Raiders and retired from the sport in 1974, in order to give full attention to his goal: to be a real actor.
