Novas are the wielder of the Nova Corps. There are many different rankings within the Nova Corps and different types of Novas as well. Richard Rider holds the titles "Gold-Dome" and Centurion and Sam Alexander holds the titles Supernovas and Centurion, respectively.
Nova betrays the Sphinx to join Marvel Man (Vance Astrovik) and Firestar of that world's Mutant Liberation Front as well as Night Thrasher, whose parents were murdered in this reality on the orders of the Sphinx.
Nova had difficulty in maintaining his duties as both one of the Nova Corps personnel and a New Warrior. He met an alternate reality Nova, "Nova O:O," who helped Rider develop his powers. He also saved Earth from destruction by preventing the detonation of the "Deathstorm" bomb.
