Gisbertus Voetius (Latinized version of the Dutch name Gijsbert Voet [ˈɣɛizbɛrt ˈfut]; 3 March 1589 – 1 November 1676) was a Dutch Calvinist theologian.

6 déc. 2022 · Gisbertus Voetius (1589–1676) was the intellectual head of the Nadere Reformatie, a movement which combines Protestant scholasticism with inner piety to extend the Reformation of the Church and its doctrine into all areas of political, social and individual life.
Gisbertus Voetius studied theology at the Statencollege in Leiden. He became professor of theology and oriental languages in Utrecht (1634). He was an orthodox Calvinist adherent of Greek Aristotelian philosophy and opponent of Cocceian theology and of Cartesianism.
