Un pasteur de Silésie, ancien nazi, organise dans sa petite ville de Wetzlar, une fête commémorative, pour le retour des cloches de son église, offertes en 1940 au Führer. Une étrange pollution des eaux de la rivière qui traverse la cité, incommode une partie de la population.
