Māris Rūdolfs Liepa (27 July 1936 – 26 March 1989) was a Soviet Latvian ballet dancer who was born in Riga and died in Moscow. He graduated from Riga Choreography School where he was taught by Valentin Blinov (Russian: Валентин Блинов). He performed in Moscow for the first time in 1950.

Baletdejotāja karjeru Māris Liepa sāka 1955. gadā Operas un baleta teātrī Rīgā. Pēc tam strādāja Staņislavska un Nemiroviča-Dančenko vārdā nosauktajā Maskavas Muzikālajā teātrī (1956—1960). 1960. gadā kļuva par Maskavas Lielā teātra solistu.

Maris Liepa (1936--1989) danced the role of Crassus. Liepa's professional dance career started in his native Riga, Latvia, but he completed his studies at the Moscow Ballet School at the Bolshoi Theater (now known as Moscow State Academy of Choreography) in 1955.
In this way, the classical Russian ballet traditions were passed down from generation to generation, and eventually gave the world such ballet stars as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Māris Liepa, and Alexandr Godunov, each of whom trained right here in Riga.
