Helton da Silva Arruda (born 18 May 1978), known simply as Helton, is a Brazilian former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. After starting out at Vasco da Gama he went on to spend his professional career in Portugal, representing União de Leiria and Porto and winning 18 major titles for the latter club.
Todd Helton began his career on the national stage as a quarterback whose college career was sandwiched between two future first-round draft picks. Helton ended it with a plaque in Cooperstown following 17 seasons of almost unparalleled offensive excellence with the Colorado Rockies.
24 janv. 2023 · Helton received a vote on 72.2 percent of the 389 ballots from Baseball Writers’ Association of America voters -- a dramatic jump from last year’s 52 percent and just 11 votes shy of the 75 percent threshold necessary for induction. Helton still is in line to become the second player with the Rockies’ logo on his plaque.
24 janv. 2024 · After six years of waiting, former Rockies star Todd Helton finally made it to the Hall of Fame with 79.7% of the vote. He joins Beltré, Mauer and Leyland in the 2024 class, and becomes the first homegrown Rockie to achieve the honor.
John Helton played 219 games over a 14-year period, and was an All-Star almost every season. Helton was his team’s nominee for the Outstanding Lineman award twice, the Outstanding Defensive Player award six times, and the Most Outstanding Player award twice.
