Uzra Butt nee Mumtaz (22 May 1917 – 31 May 2010) was a theatre personality of the Indian Subcontinent, who moved to Pakistan in 1964. She was the sister of theatre and Bollywood film actress Zohra Sehgal, who, unlike her, lived in India.

1 juin 2010 · Legendary theatre personality Uzra Butt, sister of Indian actress Zohra Sehgal, has died in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore at the age of 93.
Urza Butt, the popular Hindi theatre personality then worked under Prithviraj Kapoorfor Prithvi Theatre till 1960. She played the heroine's part in Sakuntala in 1944, partnering her sister in Gaddar i.e. 'Traitor' in 1948, and taking the lead role in Kisan i.e. 'Farmer' in 1956, giving 2500 performances in 1200 towns and cities all over India.
By now, Zohra’s sister Uzra Butt, younger than her by five years, was a leading lady with Prithvi Theatre. Zohra joined her there and also joined the leftist theatre group, IPTA. She made her film debut in 1946 with IPTA’s first film production directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas, Dharti Ke Lal.
Uzra Butt was born on the 22nd of May. 1917 in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh as the daughter of Mumtazullah Khan and Natiqua Begum. She completed her education at Lady Irwin College, Delhi University. She moved to live in Pakistan in 1964.
