The Peel Session is a collection of recordings by Syd Barrett released on 25 January 1987. This EP contains the five songs he performed for the John Peel Top Gear show, recorded on 24 February 1970 and broadcast shortly after.

Recorded live in studio in 1970 Syd is joined by David Gilmour and Rick Wright, and also Jerry Shirley on percussion. I have great respect for Dave and Rick to help out Syd as late as 1970 as I'm sure that this was a very busy time for Pink Floyd.
The session was recorded Feb. 24, 1970, with Barrett, David Gilmour on bass, and Jerry Shirley, of Humble Pie, on drums. (Gilmour had co-produced tracks on Barrett's first LP, and was producing the second album.
The Peel Session (1 July, 1991): Recorded for John Peel's BBC radio show "Top Gear". Recorded on February 24, 1970 and transmitted March 14 the same year. Contains the otherwise unrecorded "Two of a Kind".
Recording began at Abbey Road Studios on 26 February 1970, and lasted for 15 sessions until 21 July. The album was produced by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and Richard Wright, who also contributed on bass and keyboards respectively, along with previous Madcap contributor Jerry Shirley on drums.
