The Paul Winter Consort is an American musical group. Bassist Eliot Wadopian has been a member.
In 1967 he started the Paul Winter Consort, influenced by Heitor Villa-Lobos and other Brazilian music, to give ensemble playing and soloing equal importance, analogous to a democracy where every voice would count.
Paul Winter has recorded more than 50 albums with his ensemble, the Paul Winter Consort, and his community of colleagues, some of the finest jazz, classical and world music musicians. Seven of his albums have received Grammy® awards.

Formed by Paul Winter in 1967, The Winter Consort became one of the earliest exponents of world music, combining elements from various African, Asian, and South American cultures with jazz. By 1980 the group name had been changed to The Paul Winter Consort.
