William Kyle Rote, Sr. (October 27, 1928 – August 15, 2002) was an American professional football player who was a running back and wide receiver for eleven years in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Giants.

15 juil. 2022 · Kyle Rote. Rote was the first overall selection in the 1951 NFL Draft. He played on the 1956 championship team and in the 1958, '59 and '61 title games. Rote played two years at running back before switching to wide receiver because of a knee injury.
In a brilliant performance, Rote ran for 115 yards, passed for another 146, scored all three SMU touchdowns and averaged 48 yards punting. The Touchdown Club of Washington, D. C. gave Rote an award for having the best single-game performance of the year. He scored 12 touchdowns in 1949, 13 in 1950.
