Interesting as a complete collection of George 'Buddy' Guy's Chess sides may seem, there are just too many lesser songs here.You should go get the Chess anniversary album "Buddy's Blues" instead. That one hand-picks the best of these cuts, and virtually everything worthwhile is there.
Much of his work for the Chess brothers was as a sideman, but this collection of Guy's own singles and alternate or unreleased takes showcases the stinging guitar tone and preaching vocal style that were to become his trademarks.
