17 juin 2024 · Two weeks ago, on June 6, 2024, van Zweden, the 26th Music Director of the New York Philharmonic, in the last week of his tenure (more about that later), performed that magic again in conducting the Symphony #2 of Gustav Mahler, a composition commonly referred to as the “Resurrection” symphony.

Mahler cancelled the planned performance of Beethoven’s opus 131 Quartet and never conducted the Serioso again. In the case of the Schubert quartet, Mahler conducted only the second movement in a concert in Hamburg in 1896.

24 juin 2024 · Amorcé en 2022, le projet « Mahler Originalklang » piloté par le chef Philipp von Steinaecker avec le Mahler Academy Orchestra se décline aujourd’hui au disque et en concert à la Philharmonie. Son but : restituer le son originel des symphonies du compositeur viennois.
