THE NYLON CURTAIN is Billy Joel's most ambitious album, and one of his best. "Surprises" and "Laura" bear an overt Beatles influence, "Pressure" and "A Room of Our Own" are effectively neurotic, "Goodnight Saigon" is an epic tribute to Vietnam veterans, and "Allentown" was the big hit.
This is easily my favorite Billy Joel Album of the 1980's. It has the perfect combination of radio hits, outright rockers, soulful ballads, and artistic experiments.
