In her first years as a solo act, Anita O'Day recorded several dozen live and in-studio songs, including ten tracks produced by Bob Thiele in Fall 1947 for the Signature label.
O'Day went back to touring as a solo artist and appeared on such TV specials as the Timex All-Star Jazz Show and The Swingin' Years hosted by Ronald Reagan. She recorded infrequently after the expiration of her Verve contract in 1962, and her career seemed over when she nearly died of a heroin overdose in 1968. [1]

Elle change alors son nom et commence dès les années 30 à chanter dans le club de jazz The Off-Beat : un club populaire fréquenté par de prestigieux musiciens tel que le leader et batteur Gene Krupa.
