Trident is a 1975 album by jazz pianist McCoy Tyner (1938–2020), his eighth to be released on the Milestone label. It was recorded in February 1975 and features performances by Tyner with bassist Ron Carter (born 1937) and his former John Coltrane bandmate, drummer Elvin Jones (1927–2004).
A superb all-star trio of McCoy Tyner, Ron Carter & Elvin Jones (among the best ever jazz players of their respective instruments) combine to produce a wonderful album. Lush, dense exotic & elegant. Tyner turns out a strong contender for the greatest piano trio album with Elvin Jones and Ron Carter (damn what a trio) and manages to keep things exotic with his trusty harpsichord and celeste.
