Au terme d'un week-end tendu, durant lequel Inès a tenté de surmonter sa honte d'avoir un père aussi mal dégrossi, ils se séparent. Mais au lieu de rentrer en Allemagne, Winfried, indécrottable farceur, réapparaît dans la vie de sa fille et, affublé de fausses dents et d'une perruque, se fait passer pour Toni Erdmann, un coach personnel.
