Trotsky Icepick is an American indie rock band, their name referring to Leon Trotsky and his assassination. From 1983 through 1994 the band released six albums, all on SST Records. Trotsky Icepick continues to release records into the 2020s on Poison Summer Records.

Los Angeles post punk band formed by Vitus Mataré and Kjehl Johansen in 1986, following the demise of The Last and 100 Flowers. Named for the murder weapon used to kill Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky, the band's first release Poison Summer came under the name Danny and the Doorknobs.
As of now, TROTSKY ICEPICK has recorded a new single, album, and EP, with the promise of more to come. It has been playing regularly in the LA area, sharing bills with such contemporary luminaries as TRAPS PS, SHARK TOYS, the perennial MEAT PUPPETS, PLASTICSOUL, MIKE WATT, BIKOS, THE LAST, FRANKLIN BRUNO, THE MOLOCHS and THE DIME BOX BAND.
TROTSKY ICEPICK, formed by members of Southern California's THE LAST and 100 FLOWERS, initially made its mark on the SST label in the 1980s and 1990s. Reactivated for the new century, the band's new/ongoing output can be heard here.
