During the War of 1812 the British built a fort on Point Henry in Kingston with the purpose of defending the naval shipyards located near the mouth of the Cataraqui River. When this war finished in 1814 a period of infrastructure building was undertaken in response to possible future threats.
Il y a 1 jour · The fort was finally abandoned in 1833 but then rebuilt in 1837, when a rebellion struck out in both Upper and Lower Canada. It’s a small fort when compared to Fort Henry in Kingston, but it is definitely worth a walk through, especially the dungeon-like tunnel that leads out to the frontal fortifications.
