In 2016, she partnered with Real Gone Music and issued all five of her mid-'60s Reprise albums, starting with 1964's The Intimate Keely Smith and including the Beatles-themed Keely Smith Sings the John Lennon-Paul McCartney Songbook. The couple divorced in 1961 and, four years later, she released The Intimate Keely Smith. The Coronet label once repackaged some Prima & Smith tracks in an LP titled Sing Loud . That title conveys the exact opposite of what Smith does on this album, where she delivers a master class in singing softly, often with a breathy delivery, but never without power.

Prima was a natural showman, a terrific musician and a high-energy R&B crooner. But Smith was the better vocalist. As Prima's straight-faced sidekick, Smith occasionally joined him in a comedic duet.
