The killer in the film's title is the greatest killer of them all - tobacco! Everyone in this movie smokes tobacco: the random Greek guy who witnesses a mafia hit, the cops who send him to lay low in a small upstate New York town, the genie from 'I Dream of Genie', the mob hitmen, the druggist, the hotel clerk, Captain Stubing, everyone smokes cigarettes, pipes and cigars.
Three Hours to Kill was shot in part on the same Northern California location (near Yosemite National Park) as The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) and many other films by Charles Lawton, Jr., who was also responsible for the cinematography of another spare and tense Western 3:10 to Yuma (1957).
25 nov. 2023 · Neat little who-dun-it that proves a Western doesn’t have to be chock full of gunplay or two hours long to be effective. For one thing, the characters have more depth than usual for a B Western. For instance, Richard Coogan plays Niles, a man as eager to see Jim dead as vice versa.
