  4. Stan Wojcicki is a Polish American emeritus professor and former chair of the physics department at Stanford University. Stan fled from Poland to Sweden with his mother and brother when he was 11 and came to the US at the age of 12. He graduated from Harvard University with a BA and later UC Berkeley, where he earned a PhD.
