Yaser S. Robles joins Jonathan Edwards College (JE) from Choate Rosemary Hall, where he dedicated nine years to teaching in the History, Religion, Philosophy & Social Sciences (HPRSS) departments. At Choate, he also served as a Form Dean for the classes of 2022 and 2024, and as Dean of Students for the Summer Program.
Theologian Jonathan Edwards served as president of what was then the College of New Jersey for only 35 days in 1758 before succumbing to smallpox. Yet the renowned minister’s brief association with Princeton illustrates how the major intellectual currents of colonial America permeated campus.
The comprehensive renovation of Jonathan Edwards College included new stair and elevator cores vertically through varied existing construction; and connecting three separate existing buildings into one clear, coherent circulation network. The existing kitchen was demolished and replaced with a new servery.
The Jonathan Edwards College Council – lovingly referred to as JECC – is an organization of students from across all grade levels, majors, backgrounds, and interests with a shared spirit for Jonathan Edwards College. Within the college, we’re responsible for renewing old college traditions and forging new ones.
5 févr. 2024 · In 1758 Edwards became the president of the College of New Jersey (which would become Princeton University), but he died from complications of a smallpox inoculation about a month later. Edwards’ influence lives on through his sermons and other writings, both theological and historical (many are still readily available both online and in print).
